Indore: A day after chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan urged Indore to take lead in becoming a ‘Solar City’, Mayor, collector and IMC Commissioner on Wednesday discussed a proposed roadmap with experts and decided to hold a workshop in second week of March to help set the goals.
“According to CM, Indore ‘thinks out of the box’ and IMC issuing Green Bond to setup a solar plant is one of its examples. Indore has accepted the ‘challenge’ to promote green energy and make country’s cleanest city a ‘solar city’ too,” Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said.
“In today’s meeting, important aspects including research and policy for solar energy, and required infrastructure were discussed,” he said.
According to senior officials of MP Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company Limited, Indore residents are now also opting for renewable energy by installing solar panels on their rooftops which have witnessed a three-fold increase in the last two years.
